Revolutionizing Livestock Feeding with Sprouting Gear

Alfalfa hay is the predominant feed of most livestock. California alone produces 7 million tons of alfalfa per year. Alfalfa hay and grass hay require a greater percentage of land, water, and diesel fuel than all the crops for humans combined. Growing hay is in the top five uses for diesel fuel. Shockingly, over 60% of all mammals on earth are domesticated livestock, with humans accounting for 36%.

Sprouting Gear with a proprietary design offers a viable alternative replacement to alfalfa hay by producing living barley grass (fodder) with a vertical farming method at an industrial scale for a lower cost than traditional dirt-farmed hay. Fodder is high in calories, protein, vitamins, and minerals, an eco-friendly feed that is preferred by livestock.

We can efficiently convert barley seeds into a thick mat of roots and grass that is 100% edible and nutritious for animals. By replacing alfalfa and grass hay with fodder, we can generate significant profits and reduce the environmental footprint of livestock farming.

We are not selling equipment; for phase #1 we are planning a multi-building warehouse complex to deliver fodder to local ranches.

  • The patent pending system produces over 400 pounds of fodder daily/365 in 200sf of space. A 35,000sf building with 126 systems will produce 25 tons daily or over 9,000 tons per year.
  • Detailed calculations show we will be net zero for all electrical used for the 35,00sf building with less than a full solar roof.
  • No packaging and boxing of products.
  • Nearly no cost for distribution, a million head of cattle and horses within 45 minutes. Delivery by dump trucks carrying 15 tons per load.
  • Nearly no cost for advertising of product. We have standing orders waiting.
  • After the one-time costs detailed calculations show we can have the fodder delivered for under $60 per ton to horse and cattle ranches. According to the (FRED) report alfalfa peaked at $613.82 per ton in February 2023 and was at $363 per ton last November.
